Early Origins
The firm’s origins can be traced to 1906, when R.B. Warren established one of the earliest legal practices in Zeerust. At the time, the practice served the growing agricultural, commercial, and local community needs of the Marico region, handling matters such as property transfers, land disputes, commercial transactions, debt collection, deceased estates, and litigation in the Magistrates’ Courts.
Warren & Coulson
In later years, J.S. Coulson joined the practice, and the firm became known as Warren & Coulson. Historical records from the 1950s reflect Warren & Coulson as a well-established attorneys’ practice in Zeerust, actively involved in estate administration, litigation, and general legal services throughout the region. Mr Coulson was Albert Jacobsz Junior’s uncle on his mother’s side. Mr Coulson played an important role in strengthening and expanding the practice, helping establish a respected legal institution that continued serving generations of clients.
The Jacobsz Era
In 1972, A.W. Jacobsz Senior joined the firm, marking the beginning of the Jacobsz family’s longstanding association with the practice. The firm thereafter became known as Coulson & Jacobsz Attorneys, preserving the legacy and continuity of the historic practice while continuing to grow and adapt to the changing legal landscape.
Albert Jacobsz joined the firm as a partner in 1998 and has since played a significant role in the firm’s continued growth, professional leadership, and community involvement. Under his leadership, the firm has continued its tradition of providing professional, accessible, and client-focused legal services while maintaining strong ties to the local community and broader legal profession.
