Albert Jacobsz is the managing attorney at Coulson & Jacobsz Attorneys Inc, based in Zeerust, and has been a practising attorney for over 32 years. He obtained his B.Proc degree in 1989 and his LLB in 1992 from the University of the Orange Free State, and completed his articles at McIntyre and Van der Post Attorneys in Bloemfontein in 1993. He was admitted as an attorney in April 1993 and holds right of appearance in the High Court in terms of section 4(2) of Act 62 of 1995.
Legal Career & Development
He began his legal career as a Military Law Officer (1993–1994), completing an advanced military law course, and later practised at Grewar’s Attorneys in Ficksburg from 1995. In 1998, he joined Coulson and Jacobsz Attorneys as a partner and has since played a leading role in its growth and development. Over the years, he has held several leadership positions in the legal profession, including Chairperson of the Ficksburg Attorneys’ Association and founding member and Chairperson of the Zeerust Attorneys’ Association.
Professional Governance & Community Involvement
Albert Jacobsz served on the North West Attorneys’ Council from 2004 to 2018, where he held roles as member, treasurer, and chairperson, and also chaired the Interim Working Committee of the LSSA North-West. He is actively involved in professional governance, currently serving as Chairperson of the North West Attorneys’ Association of the LSSA and representing independent attorneys on the House of Constituents of the LSSA. He previously served as a councillor of the North West Legal Practice Council (2022–2025) and re-elected in 2025 until present, including chaired its Risk and Compliance Committee.
In addition to his legal practice, he serves as a commissioner of the Small Claims Court in Zeerust and Groot Marico and is actively involved in education governance as a member of the School Governing Bodies of Laerskool Zeerust and Hoërskool Zeerust. He is committed to continuous professional development, regularly attending LEAD courses, and obtained a Postgraduate Diploma in Management from North-West University in 2023.
Fields of Practice
His fields of practice include criminal law, civil litigation, debt collection, and commercial law, and he litigates in both the High Court and Magistrates’ Court. He submits that he possesses the necessary knowledge and experience as required in terms of section 7(2)(e) of the Legal Practice Act 2014.
